First Grade Common Core Standards:
ELACC1.W.5- With guidance and support from adults, focus on a topic, respond to questions
In the Writing Workshop...
As the book is being read, think about all the ideas the author mentions when talking about peace
What does peace mean to me? Write down each idea (including a picture) on individual notecards, and at the end, put them together with a brad to create your own peace book!
Peace is...
Giving away smiles
Thinking before I speak
Making food for someone
Saying you're sorry
Being understanding
Welcoming new things
Questions and Discussion points from class:
Writing Workshop: Should you ask all students to share their work?
Create a "share board" where you can post your work after you feel that it is finished
Students can share, but that doesn't have to look one way, as in verbalizing in front of the class- it's invasive
Mechanically Inclined: integrating mechanics into reading instead of separately:
Concepts as "play"
Conventions as a game... when reading, use expression
